Thermal Break Connection Plates

Farrat high loading TBG 300 thermal break connection plates act as high performance thermal insulators between internal and external steelwork and concrete (cantilevered beams & balconies etc) to prevent thermal / cold bridging.

Farrat TBN 260 is an economical equivalent to TBG 300 with slightly lower compressive strength.

Produced from high performance materials they provide a simple, economical and highly effective solution to meeting Part L of the building requirements.

Oil and moisture resistant and asbestos free, they have an extensive maintenance free service lifetime and are rugged enough to withstand rough handling during installation.

When specifying for shear connections please bear in mind that TBG 300 has a low coefficient of friction meaning the interface will slip before shear loads will occur through the material. In such cases the joint should be designed that the bolt through connections will take the full shear loading.

Where a thermal break connection plate is used in a steelwork to steel work connection that is subject to shear loading it is necessary to consider the additional bending moment the occurs in the connection bolts due to the separation of the steelwork flanges when the thermal break connection plate is installed. It may be necessary to increase the diameter or quantity of connection bolts to allow for this additional moment.

The plates are cut to required size and supplied to site with all holes and slots pre cut to enable rapid installation.

Due to the popularity of these items the lead times for TBG 300 plates are currently around 3 to 4 weeks and for TBN 260 they are currently around 2 to 3 weeks.
